ALT is dramatically elevated with acute hepatitis, often due to a viral infection. Moderately high levels are linked with high alcohol consumption, diabetes and raised serum triglycerides-所有脂肪肝的标记。
Serum ALT is used as a ratio with serum AST (aspartate aminotransferase) as biomarkers for a liver function test. Many drugs can elevate ALT so this needs to be taken into consideration when analyzing results.
